There are four major impoundment lakes along the course of the Eau Claire River and numerous tributary streams which are part of the river basin. All of these work in concert to control things such as sediment and nutrient loads, fisheries and wildlife habitat, and resources connected to recreation and agriculture. There is an growing awareness that there are many benefits to developing a formal coalition between the various lake associations (districts), other government bodies, and other organizations such as non-profits which share the responsibility for protecting and rehabilitating the whole river basin. The Eau Claire Lake District and Association are fully committed to this concept and hope that continue to develop and become a formally recognized coalition in the near future.
